The decision to rename the park recognizes the contributions of the Owen’s Place charitable organization in developing an all-access recreational complex for people of all abilities and age. The Owen’s Place project began in 2007 as a partnership with the Beavercreek Township Park District and has led to the opening of a Shadow Play area, Treehouse Village, Active Playground, Nature Walk area and coming soon the Hillside Slide Area. These facilities offer easy access and safety for children and adults who face physical and mental challenges, while being fun for those who enjoy full abilities. Last year the Park District Board with financial assistance from the Greene County Parks and Trails, installed a new all-access restroom to serve the increased visitation activity that the Owen’s Place facilities are drawing into the park. A new sign will be installed later this summer displaying the new name.
